Privacy Policy

any planz? (“AnyPlanz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website anyplanz.comand related services (collectively, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By using the Service you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide directly

  • Account information — When you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google’s OAuth service. We do not receive or store your Google password.
  • Preferences — Event category preferences, price preferences, and location radius you set during onboarding or in settings.
  • User-generated content — Plans you create, events and spots you save, and any feedback you submit.

b. Information collected automatically

  • Location — With your permission, we use your device’s GPS coordinates to show nearby events. Your approximate location (latitude and longitude) is stored in a short-lived browser cookie (expires after 24 hours) so we can serve location-aware results server-side without requiring you to re-grant permission on every page load. We do not store precise location data in our database or associate it with your account.
  • Usage data — Pages you visit, events you click, save, or share. We use this to personalize your feed and improve the Service.
  • Device & log data — IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring URLs, collected automatically when you access the Service.
  • Cookies and local storage — See Section 4 (Cookies) below.

c. Information from third parties

  • Event data — We aggregate publicly available event information from third-party sources including Ticketmaster, local venue websites, and city event calendars. This content belongs to its respective owners; see our DMCA Policy for details.
  • Social signals — Publicly available engagement metrics (TikTok views, Instagram interactions) used to calculate our Buzz Score. We do not access your personal social media accounts.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the Service — Show you relevant local events, personalize your feed, and enable features like saving events and building plans.
  • Analytics & improvement — Understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. We use PostHog for behavioral analytics (see Section 5).
  • Communications — Send you account-related emails (e.g., sign-in links). We will not send marketing emails without your explicit opt-in.
  • Advertising — With your consent, serve ads through Google AdSense. Ad partners may use cookies to show you relevant ads (see Section 4).
  • Safety & compliance — Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or violations of our Terms of Service.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

  • Service providers — Third-party vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g., Neon for database hosting, Vercel for infrastructure, PostHog for analytics, Anthropic for AI-powered content generation). These parties are contractually bound to use your data only to provide services to us.
  • Advertising partners — If you consent, Google AdSense may receive information about your browser and browsing behavior to serve targeted ads. Google’s privacy policy governs their data use.
  • Legal requirements — If required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.
  • Business transfers — If AnyPlanz is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a materially different privacy policy.

4. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Essential cookies (always active) — Required for the Service to function. Includes authentication session tokens (NextAuth), theme preferences, and location consent state. These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies (requires consent) — PostHog uses cookies to track how you interact with the Service. This data is pseudonymous and used only to improve the product. You can opt out at any time.
  • Advertising cookies (requires consent) — Google AdSense uses cookies to show you relevant ads. By declining ad cookies, you will still see ads but they will not be personalized.

You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the cookie banner at the bottom of any page, or by clearing your browser’s local storage for anyplanz.com.

5. Analytics — PostHog

We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog collects behavioral data (page views, button clicks, feature usage) to help us understand how the Service is used. Data is stored on PostHog’s US-based servers. PostHog does not sell your data. You can review PostHog’s privacy policy at posthog.com/privacy.

Analytics tracking is disabled by default and only activates after you accept cookies.

6. Artificial Intelligence & Automated Processing

We use AI-powered systems in the following ways:

  • Personalized feed ranking — The order in which events and spots are shown to you is determined automatically based on factors including social buzz scores, your category preferences, interaction history, and proximity to your location. This is not purely manual editorial curation — algorithmic ranking is always involved.
  • AI-assisted content generation — Some editorial descriptions, thematic groupings, and spotlight copy on the Service are generated or significantly assisted by large language models (currently Anthropic Claude). Where content is AI-generated, it is reviewed before publication but may not be individually labeled.
  • Buzz Score calculation — Event buzz scores are calculated automatically from publicly available social engagement signals. No human individually reviews every score.

AI sub-processors:We use Anthropic (Claude API, US-based) for content generation tasks. Anthropic does not train on API request data and is covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can review Anthropic’s privacy policy at anthropic.com/privacy.

The automated ranking described above does not produce legal or similarly significant effects on you — it only affects which events are surfaced in your feed. No high-stakes decisions (credit, employment, housing, etc.) are made using your data.

California residents may opt out of the use of their personal information for automated decision-making profiling under CCPA by contacting privacy@anyplanz.com.

7. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a valid opt-out of the sale and sharing of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we will treat it as a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” request and suppress targeted advertising cookies accordingly.

8. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained for as long as you have an active account.
  • If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
  • Anonymized or aggregated data (e.g., aggregate buzz scores) may be retained indefinitely.
  • Server logs are retained for up to 90 days.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion — Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
  • Portability — Request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Opt-out of sale — We do not sell personal data, but California residents may still submit a “Do Not Sell” request under CCPA.
  • Withdraw consent — Withdraw cookie consent at any time by updating your preferences in the cookie banner.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@anyplanz.com.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@anyplanz.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the Service.
